Covering a vast region from Melbourne to Robinvale in central Victoria, our District of 73 Clubs encompasses major cities like Ballarat and Bendigo. With 1.4 million members across 205 countries and geographic areas, we conduct various initiatives, including vision and health screenings, park construction, support for eye hospitals, scholarships, youth assistance, disaster relief, and more. Our diverse membership, comprising both men and women, is committed to making a positive impact locally and globally, addressing not only vision care but also broader health and education needs. Through our volunteer efforts, we strive to meet the needs of both our local communities and the wider world.
Lions Clubs International, established in 1917, is the world’s largest service club organisation. With over 1.4 million members across 200 countries and geographical areas, Lions Clubs International is dedicated to serving their communities through a wide range of humanitarian efforts. These include providing vision care, supporting youth programs, addressing environmental issues, and aiding those affected by natural disasters. Lions Clubs International operates under the motto “We Serve,” embodying their commitment to making a positive impact on the world. Through volunteerism, fundraising, and advocacy, Lions members work tirelessly to improve lives and foster goodwill globally.

In our district, engagement in various projects occurs both at the district level and on individual club levels, fostering a multifaceted approach to community service and impact. At the district level, collaborative efforts bring together resources, expertise, and manpower to tackle broader initiatives that span multiple communities. These projects often encompass large-scale endeavors such as regional health campaigns, educational programs, environmental conservation efforts, and disaster relief initiatives. Simultaneously, individual clubs within our district operate autonomously, spearheading projects tailored to the unique needs and interests of their respective communities. These club-level endeavors range from local fundraisers, community clean-up drives, youth mentorship programs, to initiatives supporting the elderly or vulnerable populations. The Lions Clubs in Australia offer a range of opportunities for youth engagement and development. These include Leo Clubs, which are youth-led organisations fostering leadership and community service among young people. Additionally, there’s the Youth of The Year program, recognising outstanding young individuals for their academic achievements, leadership, and community involvement. Moreover, the Youth Exchange program enables Australian youth to experience cultural immersion and exchange with peers from around the world.
